Joseph Richer, Sr.
MARQUETTE, MI – Joseph E. Richer, Sr., age 67, of Marquette, passed away at home, Thursday, August 26, 2021, in the loving care of his family and UP Home Health and Hospice.
Joe was born August 14, 1954, in Marquette, the youngest of ten children born to Alphonse and Clara (Lamoria) Richer. He was raised in Marquette and graduated from Marquette Senior High School. He then enrolled at NMU’s Jacobetti Vocational Skills Center pursing his HVAC license. For many years Joe was employed in the heating and cooling industry, retiring from B & G Heating and Plumbing, Inc. In his spare time, Joe loved being outdoors and enjoying all that nature had to offer. Hunting, fishing, and spending time at his camp near the Little Garlic River were favorite pursuits. However, he mostly enjoyed the time spent with his children and especially the grandkids.
Survivors include his son, Joseph (Catherine) Richer, Jr. of Oshkosh, WI, his daughter, Alicia (Yaniv) Matza of Tamarac, FL; his grandchildren, Miguel, Ethan, Venessa, Arlo and Oliver; three brothers, Al Richer, Bill Richer, and Jerry (Lydia) Richer; a sister, Christine (Kenton) Brown; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters and two brothers.
There will be a gathering of family and friends at Fassbender Swanson Hansen Funeral and Cremation Services on Friday, September 3rd, from 11:00 am, until 1:00 pm. This will be an informal time for the sharing of memories, conversation, and refreshments.
