NEWBERRY — The Michigan Department of Transportation is investing about $1.5 million to replace the M-129 bridge over Fletcher Creek in Chippewa County. The project will include road reconstruction, guardrail work and pavement markings.

Work is scheduled to start Monday, May 18 and conclude Friday, Sept. 18. Motorists will be detoured via M-80, Gaines Highway, I-75 and M-28. This project will replace a structure that has reached the end of its useful service life, extending the lifespan of the roadway and increasing safety for motorists.


Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 13 jobs.
