Jason Jennings

TIBURON, CA – Jason William Jennings, 67, of Tiburon, California, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2020, at the Marin Health Medical Center after suffering a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm at home on Thursday, May 7, 2020.

Jason was born May 31, 1952, in Ishpeming to William and Beverly (Johnson) Jennings, and graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1970. Jason attended Northern Michigan University, and in May 2017, he presented the commencement address at NMU’s graduation ceremony, at which time he also received an honorary doctorate degree. Jason always enjoyed returning to his roots in Upper Michigan. He and George built a beautiful home, Timber Rock Shore, on Petticoat Lake, where they spent many summers enjoying the natural beauty of the U.P. During the winter months, they savored the magical snowfalls and roaring fires, especially when returning for the Christmas holidays when they played host for many family gatherings.

Mr. Jennings was a world-renowned keynote speaker and authored eight New York Times bestselling books. He was well known in Marquette County in the late sixties and early seventies as a radio announcer for WUPY radio in Ishpeming.

Surviving are his husband, George Staubli of Tiburon; his mother, Beverly Jennings of Negaunee; a sister, Tanya (Dan) Niemi of Marquette; two brothers, Jon (Kay) Jennings of Kingsford and Jeffrey Jennings of Green Bay, WI; his mother-in-law, Yvonne Staubli, and brother-in-law, Ruedi (Erica) Staubli of Switzerland; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, William “Bill” Jennings; maternal grandparents, Jack and Ethel Johnson; and paternal grandparents, Russell and Ellen Jennings.

Memorial services will be held at a later date at Bethany Lutheran Church, Negaunee, with date and time to be announced by the Koskey Funeral Home.
