Jeffrey Bess

Jeffrey was born in Ishpeming on April 16, 1965 son of Barbara (Eade) and the late Gardner Bess, Jr. He was a graduate of the Ishpeming High School, Class of 1983. He served in the U.S. Army from January of 1986 until his honorary discharge in August 1987. Jeff worked as a Postal Carrier for the United States Postal Service for many years.

Jeff played in local Cribbage, Pool and Dart Leagues along with enjoying Baseball and Softball leagues throughout the years. He loved cooking for his family and adventure walks in the woods and spending time watching episodes of MASH.

He was a proud Minnesota Vikings fan, especially when he could wear his purple #4 Jersey.

Survivors include Kaydee (Dishnow) Bess of Ishpeming, three daughters: Jesica (Trevor) Morrison; Melanee (fiance – Marcus Maddock) Bess; Erica Bess all of Ishpeming; two sons- Eric Nowak of Escanaba, Jeffrey G. Bess of Ishpeming; mother and step-father Barbara & George Bonovich of Green Bay, WI; sister Nikita Bess of Ishpeming; three brothers, Allan Bess of Ishpeming; Gardner Bess, of Marquette; Gene (Dara) Flink, of De Pere, WI; also survived by 4 grandchildren Violet Marie Morrison, Isaac, Owen and Presley Nowak.

Jeff was preceded in death by his father, Gardner Bess, Grandparents, Violet and Gardner Sr., William and Marie Eade, sister Linda Kane, uncle David Bess Sr., aunt Patti Bess, aunt and uncle Marilyn and George Ostlund and his canine companion Windy.

A celebration of Jeff’s life will be held at the Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 8, 2019 with family and friends sharing memories of Jeff. Military honors will be accorded at 1:00 PM.
