Walter Fred Peterson Jr.

Walter was born in Manistique, MI on October 23,1963, a son of Linda S. (Nikula) and Walter F. Peterson. He graduated from Ishpeming High School, class of 1982, and from Northern Michigan University, magna cum laude with master’s degrees in Writing/Teaching, and in Rhetoric.

Walter worked in the construction trade as a mason. He was proud of his accomplishment of building his own home, which has many innovative features including solar power. He was a man of many interests: writing, researching history and science, reading, spending time outside enjoying nature and was an avid movie buff.

Walter is survived by his wife Lori Ann (Vollwerth) Peterson of Ishpeming, his mother Linda Peterson of Ishpeming, his father, Walter F. (Julie) Peterson of Vassar, KS, four daughters: Rachel (Jake) Kuliu of Munising, Danielle (Erald) Krisafi of Sterling Heights, Deidra Lackie of Ishpeming and Donna Dupras of Palmer, his brother Matthew (Jody) Peterson of Long Beach, MS, 7 grandchildren, 2 nephews Maxwell (Bird) Peterson and Samuel Peterson, along with aunts, uncles, cousins, many friends and his beloved pets, Kia and Cali.

Honoring Walter’s wishes a private service will be held.
