Mark Eugene Rapp

NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP, MI – Mark Eugene Rapp, age 60, of Negaunee Township, entered eternal life Monday evening, October 1, 2018 in the loving care of his family.

Born February 9, 1958, in Kalamazoo, a son of Robert and Dawn (Weed) Rapp, Mark was raised in Comstock where he graduated from Comstock High School, Class of 1976.

He married his high school sweetheart, Deb, on June 30, 1979. He worked construction for many years before pursuing a degree in Aircraft Maintenance at Western Nebraska Technical College (Tumbleweed Tech) where he graduated with an Associate Degree.

He accepted his first position as an aircraft mechanic in 1986 with Simmons Airlines, later American Eagle, where he continued to work as an aircraft inspector up until the present.

After purchasing property in Negaunee Township, he fulfilled his dream of building his own home for his family. In his leisure moments, Mark enjoyed being out in nature and all that it had to offer.

He loved prospecting for gold and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Mark was a faithful man of God and thoroughly enjoyed worshipping at Community Covenant Church. He was a hardworking man who took great pride in providing for his family. He was a loving husband, amazing father and grandfather, and a well-respected friend to many.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Debra of Negaunee Township; his two children, Jacob (Trinity) Rapp of Keystone, SD and Mary (Doug) Swanson of Koyuk, AK; his grandchildren, Emelia Dawn and Jovi Leota Finn Rapp of Keystone, SD and Lizzie Grace Swanson of Koyuk, AK and Baby Swanson #2 to arrive in March; his father, Robert (Judy) Rapp of Portage; a sister, Martha (Timothy) McDaniel of Lawton; three brothers, Robert (Lori) Rapp of Kalamazoo, Fred (Anne) Rapp of Augusta, and David (Shaun) Rapp of Kalamazoo; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Dawn Rapp.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Community Covenant Church in Carlshend on Saturday, October 6, beginning at 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. A reception will follow at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family to be used for an education fund that will be established for Mark’s grandchildren.
