Evelyn M. Stille

Evelyn was born April 5, 1925 in Ishpeming to Carl and Anna (Arneth) Berg. She graduated from Ishpeming High School, class of 1944. Evelyn married Donald Stille on August 31, 1946. She worked as a bookkeeper for Consumers and Ishpeming Building Supply.

Evelyn was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a former member of the Wawonowin Golf Club where she enjoyed golfing, socializing and card playing and was an avid bowler. She was an excellent seamstress who enjoyed knitting and sewing and would make doll dresses and donate them for Christmas gifts for the needy in the area. Evelyn volunteered many hours for the Bell Auxiliary working in the gift shop and the coffee cart. She will be remembered for her excellent homemade pasties and potato sausage.

Evelyn was an animal lover, who especially loved her dogs.

Evelyn is survived by her husband of 72 years, Donald Stille, 2 children: Jean (Ronald) Downey of Negaunee and Gary (Kim) Stille of Negaunee Twp, 4 grandchildren: Kevin (Lisa) Downey, Brady (Marci) Downey, Kelli Stille and Bradley (Nicole) Stille, 7 great grandchildren: Quinn, Caden, Madison, Gavin, Morgan, Ashley and Hannah, and many nieces and nephews.

Evelyn’s family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00-11:00 am on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ishpeming where a Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am with Fr. Ryan Ford officiating.

A luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall.

Inurnment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery columbarium.
