Arthur Truscott

ISHPEMING, MI – Arthur Truscott age 89 of 803 Palms Ave Ishpeming passed away Friday August 24, 2018 at his home while in the loving care of his family and UP Home Health and Hospice.

Arthur was born at home in Negaunee on December 29, 1928 to Arthur and Gertrude (Gale) Truscott Sr. He graduated from Negaunee High School, class of 1947. Art started working at a young age at the Texaco Gas station in Negaunee. He later owned and operated many service stations including Art’s City Service Station, Art’s Citgo, Truscott’s Shell Station and Truscott Oil Company, all in Ishpeming.

Art was the eldest member of the Ishpeming Beagle Club, where he enjoyed running his beagles and enjoyed rabbit and deer hunting. He was a former member of the Board of Directors at the Ishpeming Credit Union. Art was an avid Packers, Tigers and Ishpeming Hematite fan. He could always be seen on the sidelines watching his grandchildren in their sporting events. He will be sadly missed by his canine companion “Oreo”.

Art is survived by his wife Joan (McWilliams) Truscott, whom he married on August 16, 1952, 5 children: Judy (Lee) Sager of Gwinn, Bob (Ruth) Truscott of Iron Mountain, Jill Truscott of Appleton, WI, Bev (Dan) Guay of Little Lake, MI and Marcia (Mike) Pruett of Ishpeming, 2 sisters: Shirley Penland of Candler, NC and Margaret Strebel of Green Bay, WI, 2 brothers: William Truscott of Marquette and Terry (DeeAnn) Truscott of Ishpeming, 13 grandchildren: Brandon (Kelly) Sager, Barrie (Victoria) Sager, Ben Sager, Alexis Truscott, Luke Truscott, Olivia Truscott, Lindsy Truscott, Joshua (Melissa) Guay, Kaitlin Guay, Maigen (Matt) Orr, Mallory Pruett, Mollie Pruett and Madison Pruett, 12 great grandchildren: Jenna, Jakson, Mason, Lincoln, Kyler, Addison, Grayson, Hannah, Hailee, Alex, Gabriela, and Hudson, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Art was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Mildred Peterson and 2 brothers: Donald and Leonard Truscott.

Honoring Art’s wishes, a private family service will be held at a later date.

Internment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
