Warren Lee Kelley (Chum)

MARQUETTE, MI – Warren Lee Kelley (Chum) was called home on May 18, 2018 at the age of 92. He passed peacefully at the DJ Jacobetti Home for Veterans.

Warren was born on July 13, 1925 in Rhinelander, Wisconsin to Stanley and Jane Kelley. Warren joined the U.S. Navy in March of 1943 at the age of 17 and was stationed in the South Pacific during World War II until June of 1946. He met his bride to be, Edna Mae Kiel soon after. The couple married in September of 1949. Shortly after, they moved to Kansas City until 1953 when they moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It was there that the couple lived and raised their four children.

Warren was very active in the Cubs Scouts, Boy Scouts and a BMW Motorcycle Club. Warren was employed with Nordberg (later Rexnord) and retired in 1985. Warren and Edna returned to Marquette in 1988. He was active in the American Legion Post 44, a member of the First United Methodist Church and one of his favorite activities was Saturday morning coffee with his childhood friends.

Warren is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Edna Mae. Also preceding him in death were his parents, brothers William and George and sister Betty.

He is survived by children Rickey (Sabrina) of Harvest, Alabama, Scott (Patricia) of Palm Coast, Florida; Timothy (the late Shari) of Milwaukee, Susan of Marquette. Grandchildren; Jessica Breece (Jeff), Lori Kelley, Sarah Kelley-Beatty (Garrett), Rebekah Pogwizd (Derek Goodman), Nicole Kelley, Melinda (Joseph) Pogwizd-Nerad, Shannon Kelley and Bryan Mergen (fiance Maggie Gudinas). Warren is also survived by his sister-in-law Jeannine Howe.

Funeral services will be held at D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans Chapel on June 8, visitation is at 10 am with service at 11 am. A luncheon will follow at the American Legion Post 44. The family would like to thank the staff of DJ Jacobetti Home for Veterans for their loving care.
