Peggy LaBeau

ISHPEMING, MI – Peggy H. LaBeau, age 90, passed away peacefully from this earth on January 24, 2018 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility while in the care of U.P. Home Health and Hospice, to join her beloved husband, George LaBeau Sr. in their heavenly home.

She was born in Fort Erie, Canada on July 16, 1927 to the late Avery and Ada (Ange) Parker. She immigrated to the United States and became a United States citizen on April 22, 1955 in Detroit, Michigan. Having lost her parents at a young age she was raised by two aunts. Peggy learned responsibility, independence and compassion at a young age–traits that carried her through her life.

It was in Detroit where Peggy met the love of her life, George (Zip) LaBeau Sr. Peggy and Zip were married in Ishpeming, Michigan on August 4, 1962 and enjoyed 45 wonderful years together until Zip’s passing on January 19, 2007.

Peggy was employed by the S.S. Kresge Company in Detroit as a secretary for Stanley Kresge, a position she held proudly for 15 years. After moving to Ishpeming in 1962, she was employed as the Materials Manager for the Bell Memorial Hospital for 24 and a half years until her retirement in February of 1990.

Peggy is survived by a step-son- George (Arlene Ylinen) LaBeau Jr., 2 step-grandsons- Paul and David LaBeau and their families, one step-granddaughter- Nicole and her family, sister-in-law- Elizabeth Blondeau of Marquette, brothers-in-law Roger (Barbara) LaBeau of Lake Havasu City, AZ, and Joseph (Roxanne) LaBeau of Overton, NV, along with numerous nieces and nephews. In addition, Peggy is survived by her extended family, Jim and Kathy Talbacka and their children, of Ishpeming, whom she dearly loved and admired.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Lyle and Wilfred Tippett, Lucretia Carlson, Evelyn and John Marta, June and Leo LaBeau, and Leroy Blondeau.

In accordance with Peggy’s wishes, burial will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery with a graveside memorial service to be held at a later date.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Marquette County Medical Care Facility and staff as well as the U.P. Home Health and Hospice for the wonderful loving care given to Peggy.
