ETHEL TENNY

MARQUETTE, MI – Ethel Louise Tenny, age 92, of Marquette, entered eternal life Monday morning, February 13, 2017, at the Norlite Nursing Center.

Born October 29, 1924, in Greenville, South Carolina, a daughter of Fred and Ann (Myers) Medlock, Ethel was raised in Greenville and graduated from Simpsonville High School in Simpsonville, South Carolina in 1942. Later that year, she married John C. Adam who was serving in the military.

The couple made their first home in Simpsonville where they raised their three girls and a son. In 1958, Ethel married William H. Tenny, Jr, and the family relocated to Cheboygan, Michigan where the couple owned and operated a campground and resort for 25 years, managing and doing all the upkeep themselves.

Following the sale of the resort, they moved to Florida where they resided for 21 years. When William died, Ethel remained in Florida for a time before moving to the Marquette area in 2014.

In her leisure, she enjoyed crocheting, was an avid reader, and while living in Florida enjoyed feeding the ducks.

Survivors include her children, Barbara (Richard) Walster of Meesik, Wendy (Rob) Brown of Mississippi, Mary (Bruce) Nyberg of Suomi Location; daughter-in-law, Darlene Adam of Buckley; her grandchildren, Michelle, Laura, Sue Ann, Julie, John, Kimberley, Kevin; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Rene, Lily, Nick, Brittney, Michael, Jacob, Anthony, Megan, Caleb, Amber, Hogan, Liam, Tony, Tyler, Kyle; several great great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, William, Ethel was preceded in death by her son, Craig Adam; a grandson, Daniel Biggerstaff; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert (Norma), Alvin (Eunice),and F.D. (Margaret) Medlock; and former husband, John Adam.

Friends may call at the Fassbender Funeral Home on Friday, February 17, beginning at 2:00 pm until the time of service at 3:00 pm. Rev. Msgr. Michael Steber will officiate.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Norlite Nursing Center for the wonderful care given to Ethel and for the many kindnesses extended to her family.
