CALUMET TOWNSHIP — The Township Board on Friday held three consecutive public hearings to receive comments regarding two proposed DNR grant requests, one for the Paul Lehto Baseball Diamond and for replacement of the roof of the Calumet Colosseum, and a request for an Industrial Facility Tax Certificate. IRON MOUNTAIN — Local restaurant chains are being targeted in an apparent scam that involves prepaid credit cards. According to Iron Mountain Police Department, an individual claiming to be the CEO of the restaurant chain calls and relays information that is “inside” knowledge of the operation. The employee is instructed to go to the safe, take money out, and go to a business that sells prepaid credit cards. HOUGHTON — The Michigan Technological University Board of Trustees approved increases in room and board costs at Friday’s meeting. The standard rate for dining and housing combined rose to $13,020, a 3.96% change.
