To the Journal editor: Last fall, the county road that we call the Stoneville Road between Tilden and Ishpeming townships was redone. I don’t know the name, but the company that was in charge did an excellent job. It is better now than it was before. In addition to resurfacing, they also created run off areas where the water would go off the road and onto the grassy side. HOUGHTON — The Houghton-Portage Township School District board Monday approved the scope of work and budget for a proposed bond project of more than $23 million that would fund construction of new classrooms at the elementary school and make other improvements both there and the middle-high school building. HANCOCK — Hancock’s general fund position and the police department budget were the main topics at a budget hearing Wednesday.
