MARQUETTE — Douglas Brahee was recently appointed regional supervisor for the Michigan State University Cooperative Extension Service in the U.P. and the agency’s Lifelong Education Exchange. Brahee, an administrator at the University of Minnesota, is one of six MSU lifelong education directors in the state. Others are located in Battle Creek, Traverse City, Bay City-Saginaw, Grand Rapids, and Birmingham. Brahee will be in Marquette. The regional offices are part of MSU’s lifelong education expansion, which is intended to serve adult learners, encourage community partnerships, and address important state issues. The expansion is supported by a major grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.

ISHPEMING — The Commercial club of the Ishpeming high school has been reorganized for the school year and its officers plan varied activities for the remainder of the season. Programs will be given each month and a chairman has been named to take charge of each. Business men and others will be invited to address the club at its monthly meetings. The newly elected officers are: Pauline Andrews, president; Paul LaFreniere, vice-president; Florence Simons, secretary and treasurer, and Norman Hill, student council representative. The program chairmen will be Alice Jandron, November; Carl Eklund, December; Genevieve Tasson, January; Mary Orem, February; Viola Swanbeg, March; Elizabeth Lawry, April; Mary Allen, May, and Mabel Nelson, June.
