NEGAUNEE — Senior Airman Curtis M. Kyllonen, Prince St., Negaunee, enlisted in the Air Force Reserve in recent ceremonies at the 440th Tactical Airlift Wing, General Mitchell International Airport, Milwaukee. In his current position, Airman Kyllonen is a pavement maintenance specialist with the 440th Civil Engineering Squadron of the airlift wing. The wing, headquartered at the airport, teaches about 4,000 Air Force reservists assigned to units in Milwaukee, Chicago, Detroit, and Kansas City. Major missions of the unit include tactical airlift, aircraft maintenance, aircraft loading and other essential support functions such as civil engineering, personnel, and supply and information management. Kyllonen, a 1984 graduate of Negaunee High School, joined the military in 1987 and has two years of service on active duty. In 1985, he received a one-year carpentry certificate from Northern Michigan University Skills Center in Marquette. In his civilian job, Airman Kyllonen is a carpenter for Henley, Field and Schwenke. His parents, Alex and Verna Kyllonen, also reside in Negaunee.

ISHPEMING — Ruth Warshawsky yesterday was elected general chairman of the ladies’ golf group of the Wawonowin Golf Club. At a meeting conducted by Helen Stoll, Ann Holmgren was elected secretary and Elizabeth Johnson was named treasurer. The group also named Dorothy Swanson as golf chairman, Mary Corcoran handicap chairman, and Lois Cohodas tea and style show chairman. Florence Holmgren is assistant chairman of the tea and style show committee. Activity will get underway in the women’s twilight league tomorrow at 3 p.m.
