MARQUETTE — The Marquette County Transit Authority will host the second annual Lois J. Clark Small Bus Roadeo at the Lakeview Arena parking lot from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, organizers announced. The Small Bus Roadeo tests the skills of professional bus drivers from transit companies throughout the Upper Peninsula, who will compete in three events — a road test, written test and a vehicle check list. Judges are volunteers from various law enforcement agencies. This year, drivers from Gogebic Transit, Ontonagon Transit and Alger County Transit will compete with MarqTran drivers for trophies, cash prizes and other recognitions. The winner of the U.P. Small Bus Roadeo will be eligible to compete in statewide competition later this year. The local event is dedicated this year to the memory of Lois Jean Clark, a MarqTran operations supervisor who died in October. She organized the first U.P. Small Bus Roadeo last year.
