MARQUETTE — The Marquette Work Center, a program of the Alger-Marquette Community Mental Health Center, has been awarded a three-year accreditation by the Commission of Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities from the national office in Tucson, Ariz. The accreditation is through July 1991. The Marquette Work Center is one of many programs provided by the health center. Areas of services that were certified include activities services, work services, work adjustment and programs in industry. William M. Ayotte, director of rehabilitation services, reports that approximately 75 individuals are involved in the program at the work center on a daily basis in various activities, including the production of survey stakes, cedar/pine paneling and the provision of janitorial services. The work center is located between Marquette and Negaunee on U.S. 41.

NEGAUNEE — The concluding attraction on Negaunee’s outdoor amusement program this season probably will be the Lippa Amusement company’s carnival, booked for a week here, commencing tonight. The carnival will show in Jackson grove near the automobile camp site where it appeared two years ago, and on the same site used by the Ruben and Cherry shows earlier this year. The show will appear here under auspices of the English Oak lodge, Sons of St. George. There are several “rides,” such as a ferris wheel, cthairplane and merry-go-round, and a number of shows. A large calliope was recently purchased by the company.
