MARQUETTE — Members of the Michigan Outdoor Writers Association sampled a feast of state products during a recent dinner welcoming them to the area. The dinner, hosted by the Marquette County Tourism Council and the Upper Peninsula Travel and Recreation Assocation, was in the The Vierling Saloon in Marquette. While the main reason for the group’s visit was to view the “Mooselift” memorial dedication at Van Riper State Park, members also came to explore the area, according to Tourism Council officials. The Tourism Council aided in the visit by arranging special activities for the writers to enjoy, including Lake Superior charter fishing, museum tours and a carriage ride on Presque Isle.
