MARQUETTE — Sea lamprey catches in electromechanical weirs on Lake Superior streams in the Upper Peninsula and Wisconsin declined to 207 last week, according to the Marquette office of the U.S. Bureau of Commercial Fisheries. During the same week last year, 186 lampreys were taken. To date this year, 66,581 lampreys have been captured in the weirs, compared with 57,545 in the corresponding period last year. Six of the 45 weirs in the network have been taken out of commission following indications that the lamprey runs in those streams has ended for the year.
