Superiorland Yesterdays

GWINN — For three days and two nights, 72 Brownies from the Marquette area came to Camp Pow-Low for traditional summer camp activities like hiking, swimming, boating, crafts, cooking, and songs around the campfire. Located on Mehl Lake, the 85 acre camp is one of five operated by the Peninsula Waters Girl Scout Council in the central Upper Peninsula and Copper Country.

60 years ago

HARVEY — The new Marquette Veterinary Clinic will have its public bow at an open house at Willow Farm, where Dr. David Engstrom has now established complete facilities. Dr. Engstrom, originally from Gladstone, was given special recognition at the Michigan State University convocation this spring for his work in the small animal clinic on the East Lansing campus. The Engstroms and two year-old son, Chris, are making their home at Willow Farm.
