Today’s food distribution canceled
MARQUETTE — Today’s Feeding America Western Michigan food distribution at the Berry Events Center hosted by the Rotary Club of Marquette is canceled due to cold weather.
Club President Chuck Blakman explained, “The anticipated wind chill is expected to be -7°F at noon (today). In addition to the extreme cold, we are concerned about the condition of the parking lot. With temperatures this low, salt will have difficulty melting snow and ice and we cannot ensure the safe and proper operation of the pallet loader.
“While we recognize that many families rely on this food supply, we are also dependent on our volunteers and their safety must remain a priority. Thank you for your understanding and continued support,” he added.
The monthly distribution should resume on the third Wednesday of February.
