U.P. Home Health & Hospice hosts events for November: National Care at Home Month
MARQUETTE — Throughout November, U.P. Home Health & Hospice joins organizations nationwide in celebrating National Care at Home Month and honoring Marquette County Hospice Month on the local level. The campaign aims to demystify the word “hospice” and shift the focus to living–living with palliation, education, empowerment, and priorities. Hospice care centers on each person’s goals, ensuring that symptom management, therapies, and treatments align with what matters most to you. It also provides families with emotional support, education, and resources they need to care for their loved ones, including grief counseling and support groups for up to 13 months following a loss.
• Nov. 10-14, Employee Appreciation Activities
In honor of National Care at Home Month, we’re celebrating our incredible team with a week of appreciation and fun! From a day filled with hotdogs, shakes, and popcorn to a team-building adventure at the Escape Room (funded by the Community Foundation of Marquette County Unsung Heroes Fund), we’re taking time to recognize the dedication and heart our staff bring to caring for others every day. Thank you for making a difference–together, we make care at home exceptional!
• Nov. 10, D.J. Jacobetti Home For Veterans Donation
Every year U.P. Home Health & Hospice joins with Lake Superior Life Care & Hospice to honor the residents of the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans. The two hospice agencies join forces to support the residents during Veterans Day and National Care at Home Month by providing cheesecakes for their Thanksgiving Dinners, as well as gifts for their Big Bucks Bingo events. We are proud to work together to honor the service and sacrifice of the residents of the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans.
• Nov. 11, Private Veterans Day Ceremonies As part of National Care at Home Month and our We Honor Veterans program, we will be hosting private Veterans Day ceremonies to honor the brave men and women who have served our country that are in our Hospice Program. These intimate gatherings provide a meaningful opportunity to thank our veteran patients for their service and sacrifice, offering personalized recognition and remembrance in the comfort of their own care setting.

• November: All Month Long: World of Angels Hospice Educational and Awareness Campaign
World of Angels is part of an educational and awareness campaign by U.P. Home Health & Hospice and the U.P. Hospice Foundation. “The idea behind it is that SO many people are involved in Hospice Care, from the doctors, the nurses, the care aides, bereavement counselors, and more,” states Jennie Garrett-Bureau, CEO/Administrator of U.P. Home Health & Hospice. “But as Cindy Nyquist (our founder) has always emphasized, Hospice is about more than just the clinical team- it’s about YOU, the family, the friends, and the community members that are consistently caring for a loved one. They are all angels on earth. So, for the month of November and during these challenging times, we want you to look around and see that you, too, Live in a World of Angels.”
