MARQUETTE – Around 200 guests of the Marquette Holiday Inn were evacuated early this morning when a small but smoky fire broke out in a commercial dryer, officials said. Tolls that ignited caused the hotel’s first 2 floors to fill with smoke at about 2:15 a.m. said Lt. Dan Everson of the Marquette Fire Department.

MARQUETTE — Marquette’s new steam plant will be able to burn natural gas as well as coal and oil because of a change order authorized by the Marquette Board of power and Light. The change order will add $46,153 to the contract awarded to Fuel Economy Engineering Co. St. Paul Minnesota, which is in charge of the installation of the boiler at the steam plant.
