MARQUETTE — Marquette Choral Society will present its December concerts at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 6 and 3 p.m. Dec. 7, in the Reynolds Recital Hall at Northern Michigan University.

The concert theme will be “Holiday Classics.” Musicians will perform works by Morten Lauridson, Dobrinka Tabakova, Elaine Hagenberg and Marques L.A. Garrett, as well as the “Hallelujah” chorus and other selections from Part I of Handel’s Messiah. Joining MCS will be a small orchestra and soloists Keri Lee Pierson, soprano; Ava Fett, mezzo soprano; and Tony Beacco, tenor.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for those under age 12, and may be purchased at the NMU ticket office or at nmu.edu/tickets.

MCS will also host a Carol Sing-Along from 5-6 p.m. Dec. 19, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Marquette. This event is free and open to all. Attendees are invited to bring a non-perishable food item to support a local food pantry.

Marquette Choral Society is a mixed-voice, non-auditioned, adult choir of more than 100 singers from a four-county region in the Upper Peninsula. MCS strives to engage, enrich, and inspire this region through the art of choral music. The ensemble was founded in 1971 by Dr. William Dehning and is currently led by musical director Dr. Erin Colwitz.
