Golf classic raises money for youth programs

ISHPEMING — The West End Health Foundation and the Marquette County Cares Coalition have announced the 10th annual WEHF Golf Classic, which will raise money for youth development and health initiatives across the county.
All proceeds from the Golf Classic will support MCCC’s community-based efforts to promote the healthy development of young people through evidence-based prevention programs. With community support in 2024, MCCC delivered over 200 social-emotional learning lessons to over 300 students, expanded teen mental health initiatives, and strengthened parental involvement programming across the county. This is MCCC’s seventh year partnering with the WEHF for this event.
“We are deeply honored to once again partner with the West End Health Foundation for the 10th Annual Golf Classic,” said Jessy DeMarinis, Marquette County Cares Coalition Coordinator, in a press release. “The continued collaboration between MC² and WEHF has made a meaningful impact on youth and families throughout Marquette County. We are grateful to the Foundation for their trust in our mission and for their commitment to building healthier, more connected communities. Together, we’re making a difference that lasts well beyond the 18th hole.”
The Golf Classic will take place on September 5 at the Wawonowin Country Club, located at 3432 County Road 478. Golfers get to enjoy a shotgun start of 18-hole play, a brunch with a mimosa and Bloody Mary bar, and an awards ceremony with heavy appetizers at the end of the day.
WEHF and MCCC are also welcoming new teams and sponsors to the event alongside their recurring supporters. The deadline to register is August 15. Sponsors will be recognized throughout the day on the course and at the awards ceremony, and organizers are currently seeking raffle basket donations to enhance the fundraising experience.
“We are incredibly proud to celebrate the 10th Annual Golf Classic alongside our longtime partners at the Marquette County Cares Coalition,” said Tom Edmark, President of the West End Health Foundation. “This event is more than just a fun day on the course; it’s a powerful way to support local youth and strengthen our communities. Every dollar raised goes directly back into programs that make a real difference in the lives of young people across Marquette County. We are so grateful for the continued support from our sponsors, donors, and golfers, and we look forward to another memorable and meaningful event.”
