HOUGHTON — One man was shot and killed in an incident Monday evening at a Shelden Avenue business in Houghton.

The Houghton Police Department on Tuesday morning confirmed that the fatal shooting occurred at the Douglas House Saloon.

According to a release from the de- partment, at about 7 p.m. Monday, offi- cers responded to a report of gunshots at the downtown establishment.

Upon arrival, officers located a deceased 53-year-old man in the men’s bathroom.

A person of interest, the release states, was taken into custody and lodged in the Houghton County Jail, awaiting arraignment in the 97th District Court.
