Six vying for open county board seat

MARQUETTE — Six residents have put their hats in the ring for the Marquette County Board seat that became vacant after the death of Gerry Corkin.

According to the Marquette County Clerk’s office, the board is expected to consider which of the candidates would be most suitable for the position during a meeting in theboard chamber at the Marquette County Courthouse at 3 p.m. today.

The list of candidates include some famiiliar names in Marquette County. Among them are Ishpeming City Council member Lindsay Bean, Negaunee City Council member Dana LaLonde, as well as Robert Jon Antilla, Jr., Jonathan Becker, Bradley Argall and Kimme D. Peterson.

Whoever is chosen would fill the remanider of Corkin’s two-year term. He was re-elected to the position in last November’s election.
