MARQUETE — The Holman Family Fund has awarded a total of $20,000 to three local organizations.

Bay Cliff Health Camp received $5,000 in memory of Dr. Tom Huffman, Michigamme – Spurr EMS/Fire Department received $5,000 to purchase a search-and-rescue boat and Superior Connections — a recover community organization — was awarded $10,000 to help fund the creation of a new sober living house.

“We are thrilled to announce these generous grant dollars from the Holman Family Fund,” said Zosia Eppensteiner, Community Foundation of Marquette County CEO. “Through these grants, we are able to make a profound impact in the lives of our friends and neighbors.”

The Holman Family Fund is a donor-advised fund administered by the Community Foundation of Marquette County.

“This partnership between the foundation, the Holman Family Fund and Bay Cliff Health Camp, the Michigamme-Spurr EMS/Fire Department and Superior Connections exemplifies the power of collective action and demonstrates how working together can create lasting change in our community,” Eppensteiner said. “When you establish a donor-advised fund with the community foundation you have the opportunity to recommend grants to charitable organizations targeting the issues you care about most. Grant awards are issued to nonprofit organizations in the name of your fund. It’s a simple, powerful, local and highly personal approach to giving.”

The organizations were chosen by the Holman Family and the Community Foundation Board of Advisors.
