MARQUETTE — All are welcome to join Celebrate Walking in Marquette, an official North Country National Scenic Trail Town, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the entrance to Mattson Lower Harbor Park right next to the North Country National Scenic Trail that utilizes Marquette’s Multi-use Pathway as it travels through town.

In addition, there will be a celebration of North Country National Scenic Trails Day, National Public Lands Day, and the end of Michigan’s Trails Week.

There will be local NCT Hikers Chapter merchandise for sale and information will be shared about the trail that traverses approximately 4,800 miles from Vermont to North Dakota. A drawing for three NCT Hikers Marquette Trail Town shirts will take place so people attending will have the chance to sign up to win.

A special membership drive is happening throughout September but with a $5,000 match for all new and renewing memberships to the NCTA on this special day, Sept. 25.
