MARQUETTE – A Marquette middle school teacher was one of 50 educators honored Tuesday by President Clinton during a rose ceremony in the White House Rose Garden. Sharon Green, who teaches music and social studies at Graveraet Middle School and has been named Michigan’s teacher of the year, spoke briefly with Clinton before attending the event honoring the nation’s best educators. Green, a 25-year teaching veteran, said coming to Washington and meeting Clinton was a thrill, but teaching is most important to her. “I was just thrilled to win the Marquette teacher of the year contest,” she said. “Everything else is the icing on the cake.”
