First graduating class of Corrections Officer Academy

Pictured is the first graduating class of the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office Local Corrections Officer Academy. The graduating class was comprised of 17 officers from 10 Upper Peninsula counties and ran from Feb. 11 through March 20 at the Ramada Inn in Marquette. Topics covered included custody and security, booking and intake, suicide awareness, prisoner mental health, correctional law, fire safety, stress management, report writing, CPR / First Aid, the Prison Rape Elimination Act, interpersonal communications, professionalism, cultural diversity, ethics and defensive tactics.
