Rotary preps for annual Fishboil
MARQUETTE — Marquette Breakfast Rotary has been planning for an entire year for the club’s major fundraiser, the Land and Sea Benefit Dinner & Auction — commonly called the “Fishboil.” The 27th annual Fishboil will start at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Lake Superior Theatre Yacht Yard in Marquette.
The Fishboil consists of a traditional fishboil dinner, cocktails and a live and silent auction. Dancing will follow dinner with music provided by Double Trouble Entertainment.
Proceeds from the event — which consist of ticket sales, sponsors, donations and auction proceeds — are directed back into the community to worthy programs, organizations and projects that support local youth. Since 1992, proceeds from the FishBoil total over $450,000, which has been directed back into the community to numerous organizations throughout Marquette County.
Over 100 auction items will be on display for guests to bid on including unique, one-of-a-kind excursions, dinners and trips, a kayak, dining, lodging, sports memorabilia and more.
“Marquette Breakfast Rotary has a strong commitment to the many programs and organizations that support youth,” Scott Knaffla, Marquette Breakfast Rotary Club president, said in a news release. “Funds raised during the Fishboil support our yearly grant cycle which allows us to make significant donations in our community. Last year we raised $49,500 and we are looking to exceed that amount this year. We encourage everyone to come out and support the mission of Rotary and our community.”
