Kivela fund fundraiser on Monday

MARQUETTE — Great Lakes Recovery Centers will be hosting the second annual Spaghetti and Sisu event from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Monday at Messiah Lutheran Church in Marquette.

The event is open to the public and will include a spaghetti lunch and a short program addressing behavioral health issues and needs in the Upper Peninsula. All donations will benefit the John Kivela Legacy Fund to support mental health and substance abuse services in the U.P.

The John Kivela Legacy Fund was established within the GLRC Foundation in collaboration with John Kivela’s friends and family as a tribute to the late State Representative and his passion for the communities he served. The fund began with a Spaghetti and Sisu dinner organized by friends and family of Kivela in Lansing on May 9, 2018, to celebrate Kivela’s life. It is the hopes of Kivela’s friends, family and GLRC that the fund will continue to grow, ensuring that mental health and substance abuse services will continue healing community members across the Upper Peninsula.

GLRC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides a variety of behavioral health services across the Upper Peninsula, including mental health and substance abuse counseling for youth, adults, and families.
