Authorities seize $25,000 in drugs

MARQUETTE — One man was arrested as authorities on Monday seized about 8 ounces of crystal meth and 20 grams of heroin, along with other illicit drugs at residences in Sands and Ishpeming townships.

The drugs had a street value of more than $25,000, according to a press release from the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team.

A 33-year-old Ishpeming Township man was arrested in Sands Township and lodged without incident at the Marquette County Jail. He is being held on felony charges related to the distribution of crystal meth and heroin, according to the UPSET release. Authorities did not release his name.

Detective with UPSET and Homeland Security Investigations conducted a joint investigation that led to the execution of search warrants at the residences. The agencies were assisted by the U.S. Postal Inspector Service and several other law enforcement groups.
