MARQUETTE — The city will look into the cost of re-opening the “Hot Pond” swimming area for the summer of 1988, but no decision will be made until at least next April. That’s when the Marquette City Commission develops its budget, and funding for adequately maintaining the popular area near the LS&I Railroad ore dock would have to be budgeted.

ISHPEMING — Reviewing the Scouting situation, Ted Swanson pointed out that the lack of an Explorer unit, and adult leaders to handle such, has hampered the Boy Scout movement in the area, causing this program to fall far behind that conducted for the Girl Scouts. Explorers are an extension of the Scout program for boys in the midteen age bracket.
