Man arrested after crash on 550

MARQUETTE — A 32-year-old Marquette man was arrested for suspected drunk driving and failure to report an accident after crashing his vehicle on County Road 550 Thursday morning.

Detective Capt. Mike Kohler said his department received a call around 7:30 a.m. Thursday reporting a one-vehicle crash on Marquette County Road 550 near the city limits.

The driver allegedly left the scene and was located by police shortly after 8 a.m. Kohler said the man told officers he had swerved to avoid a deer and lost control of the eastbound vehicle, which left the roadway and struck several trees before coming to a stop.

He was arrested for operating while intoxicated and failure to report an accident, and was lodged in the Marquette County Jail.

No injuries were reported. Kohler said the vehicle sustained “disabling damage.”

A court appearance has not yet been set.
