Kaufman Foundation donated funds

MARQUETTE – An article that ran in Wednesday’s Mining Journal Wednesday incorrectly made reference to the wrong Kaufman Foundation.

The Kaufman Foundation of Marquette matched a $100,000 grant from the Cliffs and Eagle Mine Marquette County Community Fund, to collectively provide $200,000 for renovations of the Graveraet Elementary School cafeteria.

The total cost of the project is $232,000, with Marquette Area Public Schools using $32,000 from its sinking fund.

The Kaufman Foundation was founded by L.G. Kaufman in the 1920s. His grandson Peter Kaufman, along with Peter’s wife Audrey and son Garrett, residents of Marquette, serve on the board.

Starting at $3.23/week.
