MARQUETTE– The Marquette Regional History Center is celebrating International Archaeology Day by hosting its Annual Archaeology Fair for the thirteenth year from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday.
“Come discover how our fair has grown over 13 years, providing a look at archaeology in our upper mid-west region and world wide,” said the Marquette Regional History Center in a public statement. “Hands-on learning for all ages. Multiple booths both indoors and outdoors feature various displays and activities. Join the celebration of archaeology and the thrill of discovery. Fair is included with general admission and museum membership at the sponsor level on up.”
Admission rates are between $3-$10 depending on the age of the attendee, with discounts for students and EBT holders.
The International Archaeology Day is a celebration of archaeology and its contributions to society, states the Archaeological Institute of America. Every October, the AIA and archaeological organizations around the world present archaeological programs and activities for people of all ages and interests. Whether it is a family-friendly archaeology fair, a guided tour of a local archaeological site, a simulated dig, or a presentation from a visiting archaeologist, the interactive, hands-on IAD programs provide a chance to uncover the past and experience the thrill of discovery.
