Fatal shooting in Harris Township

MENOMINEE – A fatal shooting took place Thursday morning at a residence in Harris Township, leading to the death of one adult male.

“This was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing danger to the public,” said the Michigan State Police in a press release.

At approximately 12:19 a.m., troopers from the MSP Iron Mountain Post responded to a 911 call reporting that there had been a shooting at a residence on County Road 551. Troopers arrived and found a 34-year-old man from Wilson had been shot. Troopers and EMS personnel attempted lifesaving measures, but the man was pronounced dead on scene.

“This is an active and ongoing investigation. Further details will be provided as the investigation proceeds,” said the MSP.

MSP was assisted by Hannahville Tribal Police, Menominee County Sheriff’s Office and Rampart EMS.
