Joseph Bert Clark
SKANDIA, MI – Joseph Bert Clark, 89, passed away peacefully with his family on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at Michigan Veterans Home D.J. Jacobetti in Marquette, Michigan. Where he had been a resident for the past few months.
Joseph was born on May 11, 1936, in Inman, Virginia. He joined the United States Air Force in 1955. Served in Vietnam and retired in 1975. Attended Northern Michigan University where he received his degree in Criminal Justice. Went on to work for Marquette County at the Marquette County Airport. He had many titles from Crash and Rescue, Security, and Maintenance.
Joseph is survived by his children Jill Patterson, J. Michael Clark, Barbara (Steve) Bahrman, Daniel (Lisa) Clark, Jacalyn (Quint) Clark-Woods. His grandchildren Jamie, Lauren, Greg, Mindi, Stephanie, Britny, Riley, Ryan, and Reese. He had 15 great grandchildren that he adored. A sister, Nila Fraley and several nieces and nephews. His bonus children William Patterson, Denise Bennett VonBehrens, Clifford (Diane) Austin, Penny (Chad) Harmon, Tammy Austin, and Pamela (Andy) Averill and with that, he had many more grand and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Daniel and Sarah Clark. His wives Patricia G. Clark and Lois J. Clark. His grandson Michael Patterson, who will be laid to rest with him. His 6 brothers, 3 sisters, a nephew, and a niece.
Known as Joe to his friends, Joe was a proud veteran who served his country with honor and continued to serve others throughout his life. He never met a stranger-his warm smile and easy conversation could make anyone feel like family. Whether offering a helping hand, a kind word, or a meal at his table, Joe gave generously and loved without condition. His life was defined by service, kindness, and the deep belief that everyone deserved respect and dignity.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Fassbender Swanson Hansen Funeral and Cremation Services on Saturday, August 30, beginning at 10:00 am until the time of service at 12:00 noon. Rev. Steve Solberg will officiate. A reception will be available during the visitation. Interment will be made in the Haglund Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joseph’s grandsons.
