Ishpeming man arraigned on charges related to child sexually abusive activity

MARQUETTE — The Michigan State Police from the Negaunee Township post has announced the arrest of 24-year-old Zachary Erik Weisman from Ishpeming for child sexually abusive activity and using a computer to commit a crime.
According the an MSP press release, Weisman was arrested following an investigation that was initiated when it was alleged he had numerous explicit images of underage children. A subsequent search of his residence resulted in digital evidence being seized.
Weisman was charged with 15 counts of child sexually abusive activity and 15 counts of using a computer to commit a crime. Weisman was arraigned in the 96th District Court on Monday. His bond was set at $30,000 and he is scheduled to be in court again on May 8.
If convicted, Weisman faces up to 20 years in prison for the child sexually abusive activity and 20 years in prison for using a computer to commit a crime. The defendant is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
The MSP Negaunee Township post was assisted by the MSP Computer Crimes Unit during this investigation.
