SANDS TOWNSHIP – The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle head-on collision on M-553 near Kelly Johnson Road Sunday. There were no passengers in either vehicle.

Both drivers were conscious when first responders arrived, but both drivers were entrapped in their respective vehicles and required emergency personnel to extricate them. Both drivers were transported to the UPHS-Marquette emergency room for evaluation of non-life threatening injuries. The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office reports that neither alcohol or speed were factors in the crash and that both drivers were wearing their seatbelts and all airbags deployed.

Both cars were totaled. The sheriff’s office was assisted on scene by UP Health System EMS, Sands Township EMS, Rescue 131, the Michigan State Police and the Forsyth Township Police Department.
