No injuries in Negaunee house fire

NEGAUNEE — The Negaunee Fire Department was dispatched to the 500 block of Cherry Street for a report of smoke coming from a roof of a residence at approximately 3:25 p.m. Friday.

Upon arriving on scene, crews confirmed there was smoke coming from the eaves of the residence. Crews were able to locate the source of the smoke and extinguish it.

One firefighter was treated for heat exposure on scene, but was released by EMS and able to return to service. No civilians were injured.

The cause of the incident is still under investigation and he family will receive assistance from the Marquette County Pigs N Heat Fund.

The Negaunee Fire Department would like to thank the Negaunee Township Fire/EMS Department, Ishpeming Fire Department, Marquette Township Fire/Rescue Department, Marquette County Rescue 131, U.P. Health Systems West, the Negaunee Police Department and Marquette County Central Dispatch for their assistance.
