Bellin Health Half Marathon set for Saturday

GREEN BAY, Wis. — The ninth annual Bellin Women’s Half Marathon and sixth annual Bellin Women’s 5K is set for Saturday.

Begun in 2015, the Bellin Women’s Half Marathon was the first and remains the only event of its kind in northeast Wisconsin.

It is a female-focused premier road race built around a one-of-a-kind weekend experience.

In 2018, Bellin added a 5K event to its race-day offerings, providing the opportunity for even more women to get their feet on the street in the name of health and wellness.

The event is once again offering a hybrid in-person/virtual format in 2022 after doing the same in 2021.

The event was exclusively virtual in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The beautiful urban half marathon and 5K courses begin outside the KI Convention Center and finish on the city deck in downtown Green Bay.

Half marathoners and half marathon relay teams cross the Fox River to head through the neighborhoods of Green Bay, Ashwaubenon and De Pere before crossing back and heading down the scenic Fox River Trail.

5K runners and walkers traverse eastside Green Bay neighborhoods and also end up on the Fox River Trail.

Female-focused events such as the Bellin Women’s Half Marathon & 5K continue to be popular nationwide. They provide an opportunity for women to have fun and compete in a less-intimidating environment that promotes health and camaraderie.

They offer the chance to focus on training and health issues specifically related to women, such as the unique challenges facing runners who are mothers.

Nationwide, approximately 60 percent of half marathon finishers are women.

The Bellin Women’s Half Marathon & 5K is presented by the same race organizers as Green Bay’s iconic Bellin Run 10K, which celebrated its 47th anniversary this year.

At the first Bellin Run in 1977, 14 percent of finishers were female. This year, that figure was nearly 60 percent.

The Bellin Women’s unique race weekend experience includes:

≤ The Friday Women’s Inspiration Dinner will be keynoted by Pulaski, Wis., native and accomplished biathlete Deedra Irwin, who made history by finishing seventh at the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing.

≤ Post-race party at the Green Bay CityDeck/Hagemeister Park.

≤ Custom race swag including a collectible finisher medallion and a high-quality, long-sleeved finisher shirt.
