Marquette County clerk notes committee vacancies

MARQUETTE–The Marquette County Board of Commissioners strives to familiarize area residents with local boards and commissions.
The commissioners encourage interested and qualified individuals to apply for the available positions on Marquette County boards and commissions.
“Everyone has something to offer their community and these boards and commissions are a great way to utilize your talents and/or experience. I look forward to hearing from you,” Marquette County Clerk Linda Talsma said.
The Aging Services Advisory Committee provides informed recommendations on behalf of the geriatric population to the Board of Commissioners. There are currently three vacancies with two-year-terms ending Dec. 31, 2024: one person knowledgeable about business and financial management, one social services professional and one at-large.
Airport Advisory Board advises the director of operations and the county board on policies and programs related to Sawyer International Airport. There are two vacancies with two-year-terms ending Dec. 31, 2024: one representative of general aviation and one representative at-large.
Similarly, the Airport Zoning Board of Appeals handles airport zoning compliance permits for construction or establishment of land uses within 10 miles of the airport. There are currently two vacancies with three-year-terms ending Dec. 31, 2025.
The board of health governs the Marquette County Health Department and acts as the board of appeals for all water, sewer or health permit appeals received by the health department. There are two vacancies with three-year-terms ending Dec. 31, 2025.
The Building Code Board of Appeals has three vacancies with two-year-terms ending Dec. 31, 2024.
The Marquette County Community Corrections Advisory Board develops community correction plans and applies for funding in the Office of Community Alternatives. There is one vacancy with a partial term ending Dec. 31, 2023.
Central Dispatch Policy Board has one vacancy of a citizen at-large with a three- year term ending Dec. 31, 2025.
The Marquette County Road Commission governs the road and highway transportation system in the county. There is one vacancy with a six-year-term ending Dec. 31, 2028.
The Economic Development Corporation implements programs to support the local economy. There are currently four vacancies with six-year-terms ending Dec. 31, 2028. They fall into the following categories: developers and construction, manufacturing, professional services and medical services provider.
The Forestry Commission is a subcommittee of the planning commission that manages timber resources on county-owned lands and has budgetary responsibility for county recreation facilities. There’s currently one vacancy with a four-year-term ending Dec. 31, 2026.
Its parent committee, the planning commission, carries out the county’s comprehensive plan and is involved in solid waste issues and recreational planning. There are two vacancies with three-year-terms ending Dec. 31, 2025.
The Remonumentation Peer Group ratifies corners established under the county’s monumentation/remonumentation plan. There are two vacancies with three-year terms ending Dec. 31, 2025, including one professional surveyor from the private sector and one professional surveyor who is also a county representative.
The Veteran Affairs Committee is made up of veterans who have demonstrated knowledge, skills and expertise in public services, business or finance. There are two vacancies with four-year-term limits ending Dec. 31, 2026.
An application must be on file to be considered for appointment by the Marquette County Board of Commissioners. The deadline for applications is Dec. 19.
