Murder suspect has ties to area

ANDERSON

MARQUETTE — A man suspected of a recent Green Bay murder and an assault in Iron County has ties to Marquette County.

The Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed Thursday that Caleb Scott Anderson was the individual connected to a string of sexual assaults on Northern Michigan University’s campus and the surrounding area in 2019.

He pleaded guilty to two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct for grabbing multiple women on their buttocks at that time.

Anderson was sentenced to 12 months of probation in return for his guilty plea.

Tuesday, the Iron County Prosecutor’s Office issued a felony warrant for Anderson’s arrest for a Monday assault near Gaastra.

The Green Bay Police Department also issued a felony warrant for Anderson’s arrest in relation to a homicide in Wisconsin.

After a nationwide manhunt, Anderson was apprehended on Wednesday near Birmingham, Alabama.

Both the homicide and assault case are under investigation.
