IRONWOOD — A Pennsylvania man was arraigned Sunday on one count of homicide-murder first degree-premeditated and several other felonies that stem from a fatal shooting incident on Friday in Marenisco Township, according to the Gogebic County Sheriff’s Office.

One victim, identified by police as Thomas Fletcher, 49, of Marenisco Township, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the sheriff’s office.

A second victim, identified by police as Austin Fletcher, 22, of Irvine, California, was transported to Aspirus Ironwood Hospital for a gunshot wound, the sheriff’s office said. He was later transported to Duluth, Minnesota, where he was treated and released.

The suspect in the shooting has been identified by police as Nicholas Millard, 30, of Spring Mills, Pennsylvania.

Millard was arraigned on the following charges Sunday by Judge Anna Talaska in the 98th District Court, according to the Gogebic County Sheriff’s Office:

≤ homicide-murder first degree-premeditated;

≤ assault with intent to murder and;

≤ two counts of weapons – felony firearm.

The charges were authorized Friday by Gogebic County Prosecutor Nicholas Jacobs. Millard is lodged at Gogebic County Jail on a $1 million cash bond, police said Sunday.

Deputies from the Gogebic County Sheriff’s Office and Michigan State Police troopers had responded to a report of a shooting involving two victims at a cabin around 1:15 a.m. Friday, police said.

Responding officers entered the cabin and were able to apprehend Mills without incident, according to a Friday news release.

The Michigan State Police Crime Lab had been called to assist with the investigation.

Lac Vieux Desert Tribal Police, Marenisco Ambulance and Beacon Ambulance also responded to the scene.
