Book sale planned

MARQUETTE –The Literacy Legacy Fund Michigan is hosting a fundraising table at the Upper Peninsula Publishers and Authors Association book sale from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at Campfire CoWorks, Masonic Center, 132 W. Washington St., Marquette.

More than 90 items will be available at this sale. Collectible and some hard-to-find books by writers such as Shakespeare, Oliver Wendell Holmes and others will be for sale. One set of Finnish books is by Copper Country author Jingo Viitala Vachon. Some books are leather- or suede-bound. Books and magazines are in good to very good condition.

A limited number of textbooks dated in the 1890s and early 1900s for use with elementary and secondary students are available for sale. Many of the books are from the Mary B. Deasy Collection.

Marquette residents will recognize Deasy as a longtime and respected Marquette teacher in the early to mid 1900s.
