Search for missing man continues in Marquette Township

MARQUETTE — With the search for Aaron Royal McGeorge continuing in Marquette Township, the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office is police are asking the public to avoid the Hogback Mountain and Harlow Lake areas as the efforts continue.
“This will help reduce the time spent on K9s tracking false scent trails and air units attempting to identify individuals spotted on the ground,” police said in a news release Wednesday night.
The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office, volunteers from Marquette County Search and Rescue and additional K9s from the Michigan State Police and the Alger County Sheriff’s Office continue to conduct ground searches of the area, police said.
The U.S. Air Force Coordinator Center has worked to provide helicopters from the U.S. Coast Guard and the Wisconsin Air National Guard to conduct air searches.
Anyone who may have possibly seen McGeorge, or has information that may assist in the search for him is asked to call the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office tip line at 906-225-8441. Anyone with information regarding his current whereabouts is asked to call 911.
McGeorge is described as 5-foot-9, 165 pounds with dark short or shaved hair, brown eyes, and usually wears a baseball-style hat. He has a thin mustache with additional facial hair below his lower lip. It is unknown what clothing McGeorge was wearing at the time he was reported missing, police said.
McGeorge’s pickup truck was located around 8 a.m. Tuesday along County Road 550 near Hogback Mountain. Police said it is believed that he went hiking in the area where the truck was located.
