NMU to vote on agreement Tuesday
MARQUETTE — With the Northern Michigan University-American Association of University Professors union having a complete tentative agreement that has been sent to its membership, there will be a Zoom meeting from 4 to 6 p.m. today about the matter.
Today’s meeting will give NMU-AAUP members a chance to ask questions and voice concerns they might have regarding the agreement.
A ratification vote for the union is scheduled for 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Jamrich Hall, room 1100, said Dwight Brady, president of the NMU-AAUP.
If a majority of union members vote to ratify the contract, the NMU Board of Trustees will vote on it during its upcoming meetings starting on Sept. 30, he said.
“Given there is still a chance the membership could vote this down, I am hesitant to divulge any details until after the vote just in case we need to go back to the table,” Brady said in an email.
The union and administration had negotiated over base salary increases and other forms of compensation. NMU-AAUP and the university’s administration were unable to come to an agreement before the one-year contract expired July 1. Mediation between the two parties began in July.
